Luke's clothing is an important aspect of his character arc in Return of the Jedi. He wears an all-black outfit, which can be seen as a symbol of his potential to turn to the dark side. Instead of his signature white outfit, Luke Skywalker donned black in the closing chapter of the classic Star Wars trilogy, nearly resembling a Sith. Jon Favreau explained why Luke is wearing ALL BLACK in both projects to tease a darker side to the character! Just like when he force-chokes the Gamorreans in Episode 6! It’s no coincidence that Luke wears black throughout Return of the Jedi. George Lucas specifically wanted it that way to reflect Luke’s growing temptation by the dark side. So even though Luke Skywalker acted like a hero throughout most of Return of the Jedi, for most if not all of that movie, he was dressed all in black, not unlike his father Darth Vader. Similarly to Boba Fett in the original trilogy, Marrok quickly became the “cool” character of Ahsoka due to his double-bladed Inquisitor lightsaber, his all-black weathered armor, and the choice to be a man of few words (but when he did talk that was just as intriguing).
