For Us Chican@ Kids Zine Issue #4
Gotta have it gotta have it!
Sorry a Little late on the post, just been busy. But Last month in July 2014 I attended my homegirl Mandy’s event over in the West Side Of Denver.
The event was called “Remembering Frida” Kreative Kalpulli’s 2nd annual open art show and celebration in Frida Kahlo’s honor. Check out more flikas in the gallery posted for the event under my galleries page.
On January 4th, 2014 the community of Coloraztlan got together in Denver, CO to honor Jefe Xhuy Ocelotl & Carter Camp. The event was put together by Teocalli Tepeyolohtlan, Grupo Tlaloc & the Community Of Coloraztlan. It was a way for the community to mourn and also honor two great warriors. More pictures are in my “In Memoriam” gallery.
Just killing time like Freddy Krugnutz killing some teenagers on Elm St. and I came across these two danza throwbacks of some Mexica Women Warriors (Yaocihuatl or Cihuayaotl). The Black and White is of Veronica marching towards La Raza Park in Denver and the color picture is of Star looking like a warrior and dancing like Dancing With The Stars -Mexica Style! Both pictures were taken during Grupo Tlaloc’s Xupantla ceremony in Denver, ColorAztlan 2012 -Tiahui!
Here’s another Mexica throwback pieced together with some scraps of video from Grupo Tlaloc’s Xupantla ceremony in 2012. It’s just a little something put together real quick as I took a break from writing for a couple hours. I wanted to post about our beloved Denver Broncos who play their first preseason game tonight but no video so here’s this throwback. Go Broncos!
Taking a little break from screenwriting I thought I would post another Mexica throwback real quick. I’m not sure who the danzante is but this was taken at Xipe Toltec’s ceremony for Cuauhtémoc in Los Angeles… I think it was the first year I went so probably 2010. But as I recall this was taken with a little cheap point and shoot camera (all I had at the time) so not the best, I guess I was just lucky to catch her in the shot. Tiahui!
