Nippon Modus 115 Iron Shafts – Official MGS Forum -- Review by Syks7 (Jonathan Gilliam) Intro Hi everyone, I’m really excited to be part of this test. I’m a 39 year old architect in Southern California and am currently a 11.4 handicap. There’s been a lot of other tests I’ve wanted to take part in a lot of tests since I joined the forum, but this one is actually the best fit to my. In short, the KBS $ Taper Light is going to be a bit higher launching than the C-Tpaer Lite and is 10g lighter in the stiff flex. I have played the C Taper lite in a previous set of JPX Forged. I demoed them all while out there, and because I was looking for graphite and wanted to give the TGI a try, I had those put in my T300. Feel is subjective but $ taper felt softer while maintaining stability. Spin will change somewhat with them and the amount will be dependent on head. In titleist they played similar for me but with pxg Gen2 0311 t and original p790 spin was higher i like the $ taper in the right head. A good friend of mine loves it and won’t play any other shaft and he’s used in titleist twice, cobra mb. Per KBS’ technical specifications, the C-Taper Lite (and other Lite versions) are on the opposite end of the spectrum with regards to launch and spin. This is probably why you didn’t like it. Also see below for a quite comprehensive chart qualitatively comparing most popular shaft brands and models. I am making a move and updating my irons.but I am stuck on the shaft selection. I am torn between the Modus3 130 and the $-Taper. I really like the feel on the Modus but I am worried that with my regular miss being left, the softer tip on the Modus could potentially accentuate it further? My 7. The KBS C-Taper is their competitor to the Dynamic Gold. It's not as low as the DG, but it's significantly lower launching and spinning than the KBS Tour. It feels totally different than the Tour though, as it's got a much stiffer tip section and the audible feedback on misses is much louder. All- recently been fit into C Taper 130x and looking into used Iron sets. Can only find a few with the C Taper but there are plenty with the Px 6.5 and Dynamic Gold X100. I’ve hit all 3 in fittings and at home and much prefer the feel and stability of the stepless shafts vs the traditional DG ste. This is a 370 shaft that i sanded down today to fit in a 355 taper hosel. You have to inspect the shaft very closely to see that there is even any taper at all. The amount of material being taken off is extremely small. The main negative was how long this took. I did it completely by hand and measured and check the fit in the hosel probably 10. The C-taper lite are also not super common stock offering so I assumed you would have people like myself making the choice to get shafts aftermarket to get the most out of their irons. Just asking around before I pull the trigger on this. It's a little difficult right now to find a full set of c-taper lite shafts in the matte black finish.
