Provera is also used to decrease the risk of endometrial hyperplasia (a condition that may lead to uterine cancer) while taking estrogens. Provera is a progestin hormone used to treat menstrual periods that have stopped, abnormal uterine bleeding and to reduce the chances of getting uterine cancer.
