Clomiphene citrate

Clomid (clomiphene) is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used to treat infertility in people wanting to become pregnant. It works by causing ovulation, or egg release. You'll take a dose by mouth every day for 5 days, typically during your menstrual period. Clomid (Clomiphene) may treat, side effects, dosage, drug interactions, warnings, patient labeling, reviews, and related medications including drug comparison and health resources. Clomiphene is used to cause ovulation in women with certain medical conditions (such as polycystic ovary syndrome) that prevent naturally occurring ovulation. Clomiphene may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide. Do not use clomiphene if you are already pregnant. How is clomiphene supplied (dosage forms)? Clomiphene is available as Clomid, and generic clomiphene in the following dosage forms that are taken by mouth. Adults—50 milligrams (mg) a day for five days of a menstrual cycle. The treatment is usually started on the fifth day of your menstrual period. If you do not have menstrual cycles, you can begin taking your medicine at any time. Clomiphene is in a class of medications called ovulatory stimulants. It works similarly to estrogen, a female hormone that causes eggs to develop in the ovaries and be released. How should this medicine be used? Clomiphene comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day for 5 days, beginning on or about day 5 of the cycle. Clomid is not FDA-approved as an infertility treatment for men. But it’s often prescribed off-label for treatment of male infertility. This can lead to testosterone and sperm count increases. Clomifene consists of two stereoisomers in equal proportion: enclomifene and zuclomifene. Zuclomifene has pro-estrogenic properties, whereas enclomifene is pro-androgenic, i.e. it promotes testosterone production through stimulation of the HPG axis. Take this medication by mouth with a glass of water. Take it as directed on the prescription label. Take exactly as directed for the exact number of days prescribed. This medication is usually taken for a 5-day period, but the length of treatment may be adjusted.
